Tobacco Gauge for Moisture, Nicotine and Sugars

...Measurable Improvement in Dynamic Performance

  TM710e
TM710e, the Ethernet-Enabled NIR On-Line Gauge, combines the proven TM710 light engine with high-speed digital processing and Ethernet connectivity. This powerful combination produces the highly accurate, robust real-time measurements essential for use in closed-loop control, yet offers full flexibility and simplicity of installation and operation in:
  • Moisture
  • Nicotine
  • Sugars
The tobacco processing environment can be dusty and steamy. NDC supplies an Air Purge Window Shield, which is connected to a clean air supply to create a positive air pressure in front of the measurement window, to prevent dust or steam deposits. Ambient lighting will not affect the TM710e. The TM710e is sealed to IP65 standards and can operate in ambient temperatures between 0 and 50ºC without cooling. IP67 and ATEX certified housings are available for aggressive or hazardous areas. The OWS is sealed to IP65 and is suitable for ambient temperatures between 0 and 50ºC
Connectivity options include Digital, Analogue, Industrial Ethernet and Fieldbus. Using industry-standard Ethernet communication hardware such as hubs, cables, repeaters and routers, installation and integration of the modular TM710e gauging system is straightforward. For network integration, the Gauge can be configured for the following industrial Ethernet protocols: If Fieldbus connectivity is required, the OWS, HMI and User Port can be supplied with Network Gateways for: PROFIBUS DP, DeviceNet and CANbus Open.
  • EtherNet IP
  • PROFINET
  • Modbus/TCP
For simplicity and convenience, all TM710e system components run on 24V DC, either from an on-site supply or from an NDC in-line 24V universal power supply. Long term stability, industry-best performance, low installation costs and no routine maintenance requirements guarantee the lowest cost of ownership over the TM710e’s many years of service.
Series 710e Peripheral Devices are available to connect to the gauges via standard Cat5E cable, including:
  • Operator Workstation (OWS)
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI)
  • User Port
  • Switched Network Hub

The OWS provides operator-level interaction with an individual gauge; the HMI provides supervisory access to up to 16 networked MM710e gauges. Both units feature high definition multi-lingual colour touch screen displays. The User Port provides additional analogue outputs and digital I/O for any connected gauge. >> Read Technical Datasheet

Gauge Tools XL Software

To facilitate this process, NDC provides GaugeToolsXLTM software which is packed with useful features to help our customers get the most out of their on-line measurement gauge from NDC - not just to achieve agreement with the laboratory. GaugeToolsXLTM provides the following seven tools:
  • Simple Display
  • Trend
  • History Tool
  • Linefit Calibration
  • Logger
  • Configuration
  • Gauge Utility

Every Series 710e Gauge from NDC Infrared Engineering is supplied ready to use for the application and measurement ranges our customer requires. Each gauge contains a measurement algorithm or formula which makes the gauge respond in a proportional and linear way to changes in the measured parameter. The display is fully user-configurable and you can save your workspace for future use. Connectivity options include: USB, Serial and Ethernet. Running GaugeToolsXLTM on one PC, you can communicate with all gauges connected to the same network.
The purpose of a 710e Gauge is to provide you with real-time measurements to laboratory accuracy, which agree as closely as possible with your laboratory or off-line reference method.
